The Pakistan Navy responded to a distress call from an Indian ship stranded in the Arabian Sea after a critical technical failure. They assisted the crew with food, medical aid, and other emergency support. The vessel, MV Gautam was carrying seven crew members, suffered a critical technical failure while returning from Oman to India, which left the ship stranded at sea. The crew consisted of six Indians and one Indonesian, following which the Pakistan Navy launched the rescue and support operation after the Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre in Mumbai contacted authorities in Islamabad and requested assistance.
After receiving a distress call, the Pakistan Navy deployed a vessel named PMSS Kashmir to carry out rescue operations. To ensure the crew’s safety, emergency assistance , including food, medical aid, and technical support, was provided to the crew of MV Gautam.
The Navy was assisted by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA).
Indian officials said that, Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Regional Headquarters in Gandhinagar was informed about the situation involving MV Gautam at 11:22 pm on May 4. When the vessel experienced a total power failure on May 3 due to a generator malfunction, it was located within the Pakistan Search and Rescue Region (SRR).
