The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Class 10 examination results 2026 (Phase 1) on April 15. CBSE introduced two editions of board exams for Class 10 from this year. It was mandatory for students to appear in the first edition, the results of which have been declared. Last year, a pass percentage of 93.66% was recorded. This marks a slight improvement compared to the previous year. In 2026, the number of candidates increased to 24,71,777 appearing students, with 23,16,008 declared passed, taking the overall pass percentage slightly higher to 93.70%, reflecting a steady trend in performance.
Several regions in India recorded exceptionally high pass percentages in 2026. Trivandrum and Vijayawada topped the list with an impressive 99.79% pass rate each, followed closely by Chennai at 99.58%. Bengaluru also performed strongly with 98.91%. Girls have again outshone boys this year as well. 94.99 per cent of girls cleared the exam, with 1.3 percentage points higher than the pass percentage of boys, as per officials. Number of students who have been placed in compartment category stands at 1.47 lakh, slightly lower than last year.
