Exactly one year after Op Sindoor, Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir once again issued a strong warning to India on Sunday. He said any future action or “misadventure” against Pakistan would lead to serious and painful consequences. He also claimed that Pakistan would give a powerful response if any country tried to threaten its security or stability.

Asim Munir made the statement during an event at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. He attended the event as the chief guest. Pakistan Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Navy chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf were also present there, according to Pakistani newspaper Dawn.

While addressing the gathering, Asim Munir warned that Pakistan would strongly respond to any future attack or “misadventure” by its enemies. He said the impact of any war would be dangerous, wide-reaching and painful. At the beginning of his speech, he also called the day a moment of pride for Pakistan, its people and the armed forces.

Asim Munir claimed that the enemy tried to test Pakistan’s resolve by violating its sovereignty and territory between the nights of May 6-7 and May 10. However, he said Pakistan answered the move with full national unity and strong military force.

The Army chief also claimed that the conflict was not just a normal war between two countries or two militaries. Instead, Asim Munir described it as a major battle between two different ideologies. He further said that, according to him, truth won the battle while falsehood was defeated.

Op Sindoor

Asim Munir also referred to the incidents of 2001, 2008, 2016 and 2019 and described them as “false flag operations”. He claimed that India had tried several times in the past to create what he called an illegitimate war against Pakistan. He further accused India of using allegations, strong rhetoric and limited military actions to achieve long-term political and military goals.

Repeating his earlier warning, Asim Munir once again said that Pakistan would strongly respond to any future move by its enemies. He also warned that if such a situation happened again, the effects of war would not stay limited and could spread much wider.

However, this was not the first time Asim Munir warned New Delhi in the past year. Last December, he became Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces. After that, he warned India against underestimating Pakistan’s military readiness. He also promised a faster, stronger and more intense response to any future conflict. Later, he said Pakistan could target Indian infrastructure and dams along the Indus River.

In August, Asim Munir spoke at an event attended by the Pakistani diaspora in the United States. During his speech, he highlighted Pakistan’s nuclear strength. He also warned that Pakistan would not back down if it faced a major threat.

Operation Sindoor began after the terror attack in Pahalgam last April. India blamed Pakistan-backed terrorists for the attack. Later, on May 7, Indian forces carried out overnight strikes in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The operation destroyed nine terror camps during the attack.

After that, Pakistan responded with a series of drone attacks. However, India quickly increased its military action across the border. Indian forces then carried out precision strikes on key Pakistani military targets. They also targeted important airbases and radar sites during the operation. By May 10, Pakistan contacted India and asked for a ceasefire.
