Air India has launched an initial flagship Maharaja Lounge at the Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 3 in Delhi, and this marks a significant step in the area of upgrading the premium travel services. The lounge is 16,000 sq ft in size and opens to Business and First Class passengers as well as high-end Maharaja Club passengers on February 16, 2026.
Luxe Design Inc. Greets Indian Tradition.
The space, designed by international design house Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) is a mix of the renewed branding of Air India, as well as understated elegance. The culture of India is glorified through ambient lighting, exquisite furnishings, and the heritage artifacts – the ancient motifs murals, to the contemporary luxury areas. CEO Campbell Wilson referred to it as a proud milestone in the turnaround of the airline, which would provide standards of hospitality in the world.
Unique spaces serve every mood, such as peaceful meditation spots, colorful socialization sections, silent offices with high-speed Wi-Fi, and power outlets everywhere. There are showers, spa services, and flight assistance that will be sure the flyers are fresh.
Elevated Dining and Drinks
Food also assumes the centre stage with live cooking counters that serve Indian and international delicacies – butter chicken, sushi rolls and regional thalis. One of the most famous Beverage on Wheels trolleys brings gueridon-style cocktails to the table, personally mixed by the master mixologists. The signature drinks are based on the ingredients of India and the history of air India and combine tradition with mixology.
Champagnes, single malts and artisanal coffees accompany the spread which is free to individuals who are qualified. By March 2026, Wilson indicated that it would expand network-wide menu by taking lounges everywhere.
Some of Massive Network Revamp.
This Delhi flagship opens a lounge blitz: San Francisco new Maharaja Lounge in early 2026, New York JFK upgrades and a transferred Delhi domestic lounge nearer to gates. Air India also expands its fleet: six widebodies in the form of Boeing 787-9SS and Airbus A350s enter at the end of the year, as well as upgraded jets.
Since the takeover by Tata, the carrier has made significant investments in high-quality products to compete with Qatar and Emirates. Fresh loyalty programs Maharaja Club loyalty reinvents Air India Express redemptions and co-branded cards.
Flyer Perks and Access Rules
International flights in Business/First Class, members of the Platinum/Gold Maharaja Club, and those of a few Star Alliance elites are eligible. Star Alliance Gold also gains domestic entry. Capacity is used to manage maximum traffic in Delhi and it has been gradually being rolled out since mid-February.
The previews also praise the style of the place, the elegant atmosphere, and the attentive staff, although some mention some work still being done on Terminal 3. The Skytrax rates earlier models at 3-stars; this flagship is aimed at a 5-star rating.
Boost for Delhi Hub
Terminal 3, with 100 million passengers per year, receives an international attraction in the midst of the 25 percent capacity increase in Air India. It competes with the lounges of rivals and attracts high-yield passengers to the long-haul flights such as Delhi-New York and Mumbai-London.
