Visit to boost ties with the three nations.
Prime minister Modi will begin his three-country tour to Ethiopia, Jordan and Oman from Monday. This trip is set to strengthen business and political ties with the three countries including a free trade pact with Oman. Starting the tour in Jordan, PM Modi will meet King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein from December 15-16, 2025 where he will review the relations between India and Jordan and discuss the regional issues. The visit to Jordan coincides with 75 years of establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Jordan. This bilateral visit is taking place after nearly 37 years. Mr. Modi is supposed to interact with the Indian diaspora in Jordan. After Jordan, he would be visiting Ethiopia for the first time on an invitation by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali from December 16-17, 2025 where he will be addressing a joint Parliamentary session, interacting with Indian communities and signing some important MoUs. In the final phase of his visit, PM would visit the Sultanate of Oman for the second time on an invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq of Oman from December 17-18, 2025. This visit will mark 70 years of establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Oman. The visit to Oman will be marked with further enhancement in the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

During global uncertainity ,the three-nation tour is seen as strategically significant as it strengthens India’s engagement with West Asia and Africa, regions crucial for energy security, trade, and geopolitical stability. The visit is expected to boost economic cooperation, diaspora engagement, and diplomatic outreach, while reinforcing India’s role as a key partner in the Global South. Discussions in Oman on trade and economic cooperation are particularly important amid India’s push to expand its free trade network.
