Stand-up comedian Zakir Khan has announced a five year break from comedy during one of his recent shows in Hyderabad. He is currently touring various cities with his stand-up comedy special Papa Yaar. A video clip has been circulating on social media where Zakir is addressing the audience and revealing his plans. He said, “I’m going on a long, long break. Probably till 2028–29, or even 2030. It will be a break of three, four, or five years to take care of my health and to sort out a few other things. So everyone present here right now is very close to my heart. Your presence means more to me than you can imagine, and I will always be grateful to all of you. Thank you so much.”
Zakir’s health journey
Zakir has spoken about his health earlier as well due to constant touring. In a post in September, he mentioned about how back-to-back shows, early morning flights, sleepless nights, and irregular meals had taken a serious toll on his health. Despite being unwell for a year, he continued performing.
In a recent post he wrote on Instagram that, “Every show is a celebration till June 20. Main bahut shehar nahi aa paunga, iss baar aap thoda takalluf utha kar aa jaiye.”
