An RSS chief, Mohan Bhagwat, was on his way in the train and stones were thrown into the windowpane of a train on the Vande Bharat Express in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. In the case on the February 19, 2026, at the incident close to the Kauda village, the matter of security was raised before state votes but this was ruled out by the police as just kids playing cricket.

Incident Timeline

At about 1:50 PM the Lucknow-Meerut Vande Bharat departed Lucknow and Bhagwat which was heavily defended was riding in an E-1 coach. C-4 coach was struck by a stone that struck in between Chandmari and Kauda station at 3.20 PM shattering the glass and leaving the passengers panicking. There were no casualties and the train passed without any problems to Meerut.

Circle officer Ankit Mishra informed that children aged between 8-13 were playing outside the premises of their area with chances of an accidental throw of the stone. GRP CCTV and local intelligence were searched, trying to rule out mischief with the help of probes. Bhagwat did not feel offended and he continued with his schedule following his meetings in Lucknow.
