Goa nightclub fire case; accused arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
In the Goa nightclub fire case, Saurav and Gaurav Luthra, the owners of Birch by Romeo Lane, a night club in Goa, that caught fire on December 06, 2025 and killing atleast 25 people and wounding others, have been arrested by Goa Police today at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport . The two of them fled to Thailand just few hours after the incident took place, following which a Blue Notice was issued by Interpol and they were detained in Thailand on December 11, 2025 at the request of the Indian government. India and Thailand have already signed an extradition treaty way back in 2015, making the deportation process smooth. Both the accused underwent a medical check before being produced before the Patiala House Court, where the police sought transit remand to transport them to Goa for further investigation. As per officials, the duo will be taken to Goa by Wednesday.
The authorities said that now the investigation will ramp up as the accused are now in custody and face severe charges such as culpable homicide not amounting to murder with a minimum sentence of five years. Goa police is leading the investigation as it has arrested five managers and staff members in this case. After this mishap, the government has begun countrywide inspections to check fire safety compliance at nightclubs.
