On February 1, a spa employee in Thiruvalla, Kerala, spent 35 minutes in the hands of a gang of history-sheeter Subin Alexander Chacko who on allegations of raping her at knifepoint, proceeded to claim her virginity. The survivor recounted the nightmare to the police and how she was held at the neck with a knife, slapped and even filmed naked after declining the extortion requests.
Gang’s Violent Extortion Bid
Six to ten men broke into the spa, at around 3.30 PM, in the Pathanamthitta district and asked the owners to pay them a goonda tax of 50000. When the woman complained of being helpless, Chacko, a.k.a Marana Subin, who had just been released after spending some time in Kaapa detention dragged her into a locked-up room. Ask me to treat me like your sister and I will get slapped and a knife put to my throat, she pleaded.
The attack had lasted 35-long torturous minutes; they stripped her, violated her savagely, and shot blackmailing videos/selfies of her naked. The gang also dragged a male client to the room and ordered him to lie with them, captured it on camera and also raped him, in addition to stealing Rs 25,000-2,500 cash from the counter.
The intruders were filmed by CCTV threatening personnel, and this led to outrage among the people.
Police Swift Action, Mystery Lingers.
Pathanamthitta SP R. Anand affirmed that police had done it sui motu due to special branch tips, and that her statement was recorded in the absence of a formal complaint. Chacko (27-29) and Berlin Das (38) arrested; four absconding. Kaapa Act reprimanded Chacko, who was imprisoned half a year last year. Dr. Sanjay, spa owner accused police-gangster nexus and rival extortion, but not yet. Investigation extends to all the local spas in the suspicion of organized crime.
Trauma and Demands of the Survivor.
The victim, who was not yet physically/mentally fit, was on the suspicion that Chacko was high. Her quote to the media was: bruised neck, endless threats, pointing out that there was a delay in aid provided to a colleague. The women’s groups are demanding a speedy trial, security, and an anti-gooncrackdownown.
