Bangladesh has stayed firm on its decision to not play in India and boycott the upcoming T20 World Cup. The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Wednesday, rejected Bangladesh’s request to change the venues. Bangladesh has conveyed security threats as the reason for not playing matches in India. It had asked to shift the venue to Sri Lanka instead of India, whose demands have been dismissed. The ICC rejected the Bangaldesh’s concerns, citing there was no credible security threat for its players in India. As per sources, Bangladesh has been given a day to consult its government and reconsider the decision to play in India, as it may result in country’s expulsion from the tournament.

Bangldesh’s sports advisor, Asif Nazrul accused the ICC failing to treat Bangladesh fairly. He said, “The ICC has not served us justice”. The country was drawn in group C with England, Italy, Nepal and the West Indies. It is scheduled to play three matches in Kolkata and one in Mumbai. Bangladesh asked to shift the matches to Sri Lanka, who’s a co-host with India. The ICC will now replace bangladesh with Scotland. It had been engaging with the Bangladesh’s Cricket Board since past few weeks with the clear objective of facilitating Bangladesh’s participation in the tournament.
