Another Hindu man shot dead in Bangladesh, fifth such incident within three weeks

In a tragic incident in Bangladesh, another Hindu man Rana Pratap, a 45-year-old factory owner and the acting editor of a newspaper was shot dead by a group of men on Monday evening. As per local sources, Pratap had multiple cases filed against him. He was killed in Kopalia Bazar area in southwestern Bangladesh around 6 pm. The attackers were on a motorcycle and they had an argument with Pratap following which, they fired several rounds at his head and fled. He had several cases registered against him and was also involved with an extremist group, said local sources. Pratap ran an ice cream factory in Kopalia and was killed in the same area. The police is now investigating the case.

Chain of Hindu killings

This is the fifth such minority killing in three weeks in Bangladesh. On Saturday, a Hindu woman was raped by two Bangladeshi men who also demanded money from her. They tied her to a tree, cut off her hair, recorded the act and posted it on social media. Following this, the woman fell unconscious and was taken to the hospital. On December 31, Khokon Chandra Das was attacked by a mob, who set him on fire.Although Das managed to escape by jumping into a nearby, he later succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. This was preceded by the deaths of Amrit Mondal and Dipu Chandra Das. India has condemned the attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh and stated that it is keeping a close watch on the evoloving situation.
